This rare chair, designed by Abraham Palatnik around 1950, showcases the artist’s early interest in industrial materials and modernist structure. Crafted in black lacquered metal with its original white curvin (a Brazilian vinyl material), the piece combines minimalist lines with functional elegance. The slim frame, rounded seat, and suspended backrest express a lightweight aesthetic while offering ergonomic comfort. Known primarily for his pioneering role in kinetic art, Palatnik also explored design through his Arte Vida studio, where he developed a limited number of furniture pieces. This chair is a rare surviving example of his contribution to Brazilian modern furniture.
