Rare and iconic "Esfera" armchair designed by Ricardo Fasanello in 1969.
Executed in molded acrylic resin with leather upholstery and metal structure, this model is among the most celebrated creations of the designer. Its spherical form, sculpted as a continuous enveloping volume, exemplifies Fasanello’s pioneering exploration of organic shapes and innovative materials during the late 1960s. Combining futuristic aesthetics with exceptional comfort, the Esfera reflects the spirit of experimentation that characterized Brazilian design at the height of the modernist period.
Signed “RF” on the backrest.
Born in 1930, Ricardo Fasanello is regarded as one of the most visionary figures of Brazilian design. Largely self-taught, he developed a highly personal language distinguished by bold sculptural forms and groundbreaking use of fiberglass, acrylic resin, and molded materials. His work challenged conventional furniture design, blurring the boundaries between sculpture, engineering, and functional object. Today, Fasanello’s creations are among the most sought-after pieces of Brazilian modern design and are represented in important private and institutional collections worldwide.
